Chakkarapani Temple is biggest Vaishnavite temple in Kumbakonam town.The eastern and western entrances of the temple are known as "Thatchinaya Vayil" and "Utharayana Vayil".Agampara Vinayakar ,Panchamuga Aancheneyar and Vijayavalli are the important idols located in this temple complex.

One can reach the Chakkarpani Temple in two ways. The first one is get down at Ramaswami temple and go straight. On the way you can view a lot of temples. A Varaga temple also very near to Chakkarpani temple. Don't forget to visit this temple. The another way is, get the Swamimalai Bus via (Town High School and Mutt Street) get down at Chakkara Padi Thurai (சக்கர படித் துறை) stop, from here the temple is less than one par-long. In the way you can view Hayagriva Temple and Varatharaja temple in Mela Cavery. It is less than one kilometer from Chakkara Padi Thurai.
